Between the Covers UPTOWN August 11th

This month’s UPTOWN event bring authors Kaamulk Mauza, Symone Craven to our mic. And host Lori Perkins will present her much-requested 50 SHADES OF GREEN: How to Write Smut for Fun and Profit!

All at An Bael Bocht, 445 W. 238 Street in Riverdale (take the #1 train). Reading starts at 7:00 pm!

Kaamulk Mauza is a performance artist from Jersey City NJ who likes kissing and sex and poetry and whiskey. Her work has been seen at the Montclair Poetry Festival, the Geeky Kink Event, Floating World and TES.

Symone Craven writes sinfully taboo erotica. They are strong, compelling, and are as vivid as the sex scenes themselves. Her goal is to promote and inspire in others the concept of taboo chic, which means to embrace the perverse over the positive, and to marry that perversity with a higher standard for the aesthetic.

Her work fills a widening gap for people who might like certain elements or themes from popular novels like 50 Shades of Gray, but want more provocative and bolder sex scenes. Her audience would say that my work pushes the envelope while still trying to tell an entertaining story.

Craven has worked in the adult entertainment industry for 6 years. She has a Bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology and was going to go to nursing school but threw that life away for that of a writer. Plus, she said the scrubs were unflattering. Currently she has over 10 titles of novellas and short stories.

The second half of the evening will feature Lori Perkins, Publisher of Riverdale Avenue Books, and author and editor of 22 erotica anthologies, teaching her much-requested class 50 SHADES OF GREEN: How to Write Smut for Fun and Profit, whch she has taught at Romance Writers of America conferences from Massachusetts to California, as well as at TESFest, Geeky Kink, Floating World, bachelorette parties and senior centers. Lori Perkins firmly believes that Smut will set you free and Smut will save the world.

We’ll have our unique dirty word raffle where participants are encouraged to write a favorite dirty word on a piece of paper (with initials because dirty minds think alike). Prizes include from corsets (a $150 value), samples of Dude Wipes, Simply Slick Oil Based Lubricant and Uberlube Silicone Lubricant from, and books by the readers.
