All About Between the Covers
First, there’s BtC Downtown on the FIRST FRIDAY of every month at People Kitchen, 163 Allen Street. Reading starts at 7:00 pm.
Then there’s BtC Uptown on the SECOND MONDAY of the month at An Bael Bocht, 445 W. 238 Street in Riverdale (take the #1 train). Reading starts at 7:00 pm.
Both Between the Covers readings feature our unique dirty word raffle where participants are encouraged to write a favorite dirty word on a piece of paper (with initials because dirty minds think alike). Prizes include from hipsandcurves.com corsets (a $150 value), samples of Dude Wipes, Simply Slick Oil Based Lubricant and Uberlube Silicone Lubricant from MySecretLuxury.com, and books by the readers.
Our Authors
All featured authors are published, and the reading series receives sponsorship in the form of swag from other established publishing companies such as Cleis Press, Samhain Publishing, and Kensington Publishing. However, Between the Covers is fully sponsored and organized by Riverdale Avenue Books and Publisher Lori Perkins. Between the Covers often features special giveaways, which include books and in the past have included corsets from hipsandcurves.com corsets, as well as “Naughty Pillows” by TheresaRoemer.com. We also have a signature dirty word raffle, where the audience members are encouraged to write their favorite dirty word on a piece of paper (with their initials) which is drawn to win a special prize! So each reading series always offers prizes.
Public Relations and Media
Between the Covers is represented by well-known media firm Astonish Media Group (they rep ABC Television, Price Lorenzo Borghese, and have many celebrity contacts among other very noteworthy and high profile clients), as well as a curator and social media account executives on staff. There is a Between the Covers Facebook page and website, and invitations are sent out before the event to Lori Perkins’ 5000 Facebook and 3000 twitter followers, as well being listed as a Goodreads event. The event is also always promoted on Fetlife.com. In addition, the line-up is announced at the NYC and LI chapters of Romance Writers of America and at Lady Jane’s Salon, a NYC romance reading series, as well as listed in GalleyCat (a publishing industry daily website). Between the Covers has been listed in Time Out and The Daily News.
Lori Perkins
Lori Perkins is an adjunct with New York University’s Publishing Master’s Program and has taught “Smut for Fun and Profit” all over the country. She has edited 22 erotica anthologies, including 50 Writers on 50 Shades of Grey. She has also instructed courses at the Eulenspiegel Society, and has done presentations as Paddles, TESfest, Floating World, Romantic Times Convention, the Northeast and NYC Chapters of Romance Writers of America and EroticonUSA.
In addition to her role as publisher of Riverdale Avenue Books, Lori is affiliated with RomanceBeat.com, a new romance news and gossip website that reaches 30,000 people a month, where Between the Covers can be promoted monthly. Lori Perkins is the president of the L. Perkins Agency, where she is a literary agent and represents such authors as Jenna Jameson, Laura Antoniou and Cecilia Tan.
She is on the host committee of the Lambda Literary Awards, the leading literary organization for the LGBT Community.
Riverdale Avenue Books
RiverdaleAveBooks.com is a hybrid publisher of ebooks and print, with seven imprints including Desire, an erotica/ erotic romance line, as well as Magnus Books, an LGBT line that is the leader in its field.
